Ahmed Rushdi (1938-1983)

He had a fresh, lively, young voice. He will always be remembered as singing vocals for Waheed Murad in hit films like Doraha and Armaan along with other numerous hit songs. There has been no singer in Pakistani film industry whose voice was more fresh, more charismatic or more pleasing than that of Ahmed Rushdi.

He is also considered to be the first regular pop singer of Asia, as he introduced hip-hop, disco, and other modern genres in the Asian Music.

As someone said "Ahmed Rushdi is gone but his memory is like the blowing wind, that will touch and shake the strings of our hearts to keep us awake for years to come.

Those of the new generation who did not know his songs, can only appreciate his voice and charisma after listening to his songs.

Adaptation, the Skill for a Successful Social Life

Man is a social animal. We all have this need to socialize. But socializing demands certain skills because you don't always find friends who are a hundred percent compatible with you. And no one is perfect. Everyone has some pleasant habits and some really annoying or irritating habits. You will hardly find people who are like you in this world. People have different ideas, different political and religious affiliations, different likes and dislikes. They have different mental and education levels.

So what do we do? We learn to adapt. When we meet people, we concentrate on points which we like, which endear other people to us, and try to avoid thinking about those things which we do not like or do not agree with (I am talking about general stuff here the evil, criminal stuff).

If you want to really stay friends with someone, do not let your political and religious arguments get out of hand. These are useless arguments and may make you lose a precious friend.

Concentrate on good points in other people. Try to avoid looking at bad points. The only thing worth caring about is that the other person should not be too hard on your nerves and he should not be insincere.

If we forgive others bad points and mistakes, they will tend to forgive us.

There would be no healthy social life without forgiving and forgetting. The skill is called Adaptation.

Michael Jackson is dead

"Michael Jackson is dead", the news shocked me. Mind you I am not a mindless celebrity crazed person. I don't even listen to music all that much. But growing up with Michael Jackson's superb, genius music and dancing subconsciously brought him close to my heart. He was drowned in controversy and scandal. I don't know how much of that was true, and I will not believe anything bad about anyone without proof. We are all too quick to judge and we are quite selective about our judgments. We pick on some and leave others.

All I know is that I am sad at the demise of this music genius. He was a universal phenomenon. He had a forceful personality. He demanded attention wherever he went.

Listen to his music and you will be mesmerized. My heart skips a beat every time I listen to his music.

I hope this world would take good care of his innocent children.
